When I downloaded the book, I noticed an expiration date. Do my books expire?

There are two kinds of expiration dates on NetGalley:

  1. Expiration Date applies to any protected digital review copy you download: the file expires a set number of days (usually 55 days, though publishers may choose other lengths of time). You can find the expiration date with your program or app.

If you’re using the NetGalley Shelf app and your license still has time remaining, you can renew your book for another 55 days by tapping and holding the cover image of the book within the app. Then choose Renew. You do not need to press Download on the NetGalley website. Learn more here.

If you’re using another supported device or app, you can download another 55-day copy of the file from your NetGalley account if you need more time to finish reading, until the publisher archives the book. Just sign back into your NetGalley account, click on your Shelf, find the book, and then press the Download button again.
  2. Archive Date - Some publishers also list an Archive date in the book or audiobook description. This is the date the publisher plans to remove the book from the NetGalley catalog. After this date, you will not be able to download another copy of the file. Any copy downloaded to your NetGalley Shelf app, or other supported device or app, will be available until you reach the expiration date, as described above. Please note that in most cases books will archive at 11:45pm, in the respective time zone of the publisher of the book.

*If you have used the Kindle option to send a copy of the file to your Kindle, that file will not expire, and will continue to be available to you.
