It's a great idea to preview file downloads when uploading new titles to your NetGalley account. That way, you can tell if there are any issues that might affect the reading experience, and nip those issues in the bud.
There are two ways you can preview your file as it will appear to readers:
1.Via your publisher account
Go to the Title Details page and scroll down to the Settings section on the left-hand side of the page. Click the orange arrow next to Upload/Preview Files:
Now just click the upload file name (either PDF or EPUB depending on what file you uploaded) and your file will open. You'll have to test MOBI files by sending yourself a widget (see below).
Note: you need to have Adobe Digital Editions on your computer to open a protected galley. This is the program that members use to view protected files, and also the program that allows them to transfer files to most reading devices. You can not test Kindle files using the Preview link. To test Kindle files, please use a member account.
2. Via a member account
To test a Kindle download, or to view the download process from a member's perspective, simply use the widget link to auto-approve yourself (as a reader) and click the Download button or Send to Kindle from the title record. Here is some more information about accessing NetGalley titles on a Kindle device or with the Kindle app.
Note: You MUST sign out completely from your publisher account after saving the widget link and sign in using a member account to test in this way.
