What does it mean if I was approved to download a book, but the publisher has archived it?

Once a publisher archives a book, it is no longer available for members to download. Most publishers archive books around the publication or on-sale date, but it is entirely up to each publisher when they choose to archive a book.

If you plan to read, listen or provide feedback on a book, we highly recommend that you download it to your NetGalley Shelf app, or other supported devices or apps, when you are approved. (Note that the NetGalley Shelf app is the exclusive way to listen to audiobooks on NetGalley)

Any copy downloaded to your NetGalley Shelf app, or any other supported device or app, will be available until you reach the expiration date, as described above. If you have used the Kindle option to send a copy of the file to your Kindle, that file will not expire, and will continue to be available to you.
