The NetGalley Shelf section displays all books and audiobooks you've been approved to access through NetGalley that are currently available to download in the NetGalley Self app. The books found in this section can be downloaded to access on the go, or you can start listening right away with streaming for audiobooks!
How to start reading or listening:
- Books: Tap Download to save the book to your device.
- Audiobooks: Tap Download or Play to start listening right away.
You can also view detailed information about the book, including author, media type (e-book or audiobook), file format, description, publisher, publication date, and categories.
How to see all approved books and audiobooks
To see alI of the books and audiobooks you’ve been approved for:
- Go to the Home page in the NetGalley Shelf app.
- Navigate to the NetGalley Shelf section.
- Tap Show all (on iOS devices) or the arrow icon (on Android devices).
You’ll then see your approved books divided by format:
- Books
- Audiobooks
Tap Show all (on iOS devices) or the arrow icon (on Android devices) next to the format you want to view and/or download. These approved books will remain in the Shelf section until they are archived and cannot be removed sooner. (See Availability and archiving, below.)

To Search and Filter your Shelf
To help you quickly locate all of your approved books within the app:
iOS:
Once you're in the NetGalley Shelf section of the app, tap Show all next to Books or Audiobooks. In the top-center of the screen, you will see the Search bar, and in the top-right, the Filter icon will appear. Use these to search by title, author, narrator, ISBN, or keyword to narrow results by NetGalley Status and Categories.
Android:
Tap the arrow next to Books or Audiobooks. You’ll see Search and Filter icons at the top right. Swipe right on the Filter menu to view all NetGalley Status and Category options available.
Availability and archiving
All approved books and audiobooks you see in the NetGalley Shelf section are available to download until the title is archived by the publisher. Once a book or audiobook is archived, it will no longer appear in the Shelf list or be available to download in the app.
