No matter your member type, here are a few tips for improving your Profile.
Remember, your Profile is the most important tool you have for telling publishers how you recommend new books. The information in your Profile is what publishers see when deciding to approve your requests (but other members do not). Your profile should include only relevant information about how you use digital review copies and information about your role as an industry professional.

- Your Bio - Think about your NetGalley Profile like a resume. The information in your Profile is what publishers see when deciding to approve or decline your requests, so make sure to keep your Bio professional and succinct.
- Publisher Approval Preferences - Look at each publisher's specific preferences (from the Browse Publishers page) for guidance on what publishers want to know about you. In general, it's best to provide more information about your book experience, reach, and audience.
- Professional Associations - Don’t forget to indicate if you are a member of any relevant associations. If you enter a valid ALA/ALIA member ID or ABA/BA store number, a special ALA, ALIA, ABA, or BA icon will be added to your Profile. We have partnerships with:
- American Library Association
- American Booksellers Association
- Booksellers Association (UK & Ireland only)
- Australian Library and Information Association (AU only)
- Company/Primary Audience - Include the name of your blog, website, library, school, bookstore, or media outlet in the Company or Primary Audience field, depending on your Member Type.
- Country - With so many publishers worldwide participating in NetGalley, it’s become important for publishers to know what country you reside in, so they can make sure they have territory rights to share digital review copies with you. In your Profile, go to the Additional Information tab to update your country.
- Share Feedback through NetGalley about books you've read. Publishers and authors rely on your Feedback (reviews, notes, and recommendations) as they are marketing and selling their books. (Also make sure your reviews are based on the format you read/listened to via NetGalley. If you read the DRC, review the DRC. If you listened to the audiobook, review the audiobook).
- Social Accounts - Be sure to connect your social accounts for easy sharing of your reviews!
- Be sure your Categories & Reading Habits are updated in your Profile and that you’ve opted in to our newsletters. NetGalley can then send email promotions (on behalf of publishers) for books and audiobooks that may interest you. *If you identify personally as an OwnVoices reviewer, we suggest including that in the Bio section of your Profile.
